Piston Filling Machine
Piston
Filling Machines are among the most popular of fillers due to the
initial low cost for a single head machine which can sometimes fill at
rates over 30 bottles per minute (depends entirely on bottle neck
opening and the specific product being filled). There are two types of
Piston Filling machines: Check Valve and Rotary Valve.
Check valve types are used for light viscosity products such as a
light hand lotion. The big advantage of this type is that it can
draw product directly from your drum or tank so you do not need
additional pumps.
Rotary valve types are perhaps the most versatile of all fillers in
that they can fill product from light viscosities to very heavy like
peanut butter. And if there are suspended solids, it is no problem
since this can pass thru chunks up to 1" cube size (depending on which
model you select).
The biggest drawback of a rotary valve type piston fillers is that
they need to be loaded into a hopper on top of the machine, so you
will need pumps or manpower to keep it fed.
